FIU grad and English teacher David Menasche passed away this morning after a brave 8-year battle with brain cancer. As a teacher at Coral Reef, he touched the lives of countless young people. When he grew weary of the chemo treatments he decided to journey across the country to revisit his former students and see if he had made a difference in their lives. That story is told in his book, The Priority List. He was to have spoken at #TEDxFIU about his fearless journey but was too sick to join us. In the weeks leading up to TEDxFIU though he touched many of us with his remarkable courage, his inimitable humor and his hard-earned wisdom.
Today the FIU community honors his life by remembering what truly matters, in his words, “Who you are is no longer defined by what you do but by what you give and how you love.“
